Robert M. Edwards, Jr.
Robert M. Edwards, Jr. is a South Bend native. He graduated from Riley High School in 1969. A business major and varsity football player at Western Michigan University, he graduated cum laude in 1973. Bob attended Notre Dame Law School and graduated in 1976. He was a third generation Notre Dame graduate. His grandfather graduated in 1908 and was the captain of the Notre Dame Football team that year and his father graduated in 1949 with an engineering degree. While Bob was attending Notre Dame Law School, he was also working part-time at Jones Obenchain, then called Jones, Obenchain, Johnson, Ford, Pankow and Lewis. He joined the firm full time as an associate upon graduation and has been a partner since 1981.
Bob's areas of practice include construction, personal injury and products liability litigation, worker's compensation, mediation and arbitration services. He is a registered civil mediator and has served as a court appointed mediator in more than 1,000 civil cases. Bob is a frequent lecturer in the areas of mediation and worker's compensation law. For more than 30 years, Bob has represented insurance companies in his personal injury defense practice.
When not in court or mediating cases for other attorneys and the courts, Bob enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking and especially spending time with Janene, his wife of 35 years, his 3 adult sons and grandchildren.
Bob is a fellow in the Indiana Bar Foundation and was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in American. He has also been active in community organizations for many years, having served as the president of the Michiana YMCA Board of Directors and currently serving as the President of the YMCA Board of Trustees. He is also a member and past director of the South Bend Kiwanis Club.
