Jackie Homann, left, and Tom Vetne graced the cover of 'Tribune Business Weekly' on January 5, 2009. In an article written by Tribune Correspondent, Gene Stowe, Jackie and Tom provide guidance to businesses about covenants not to compete, non-solicitation clauses, and confidentiality clauses. They explain that the purpose of these agreements is to protect employers and business owners against losses of company trade secrets and other confidential information.

Jones Obenchain announces new partners in 2009
Jones Obenchain is pleased to announce that Janet Horvath has been made a partner.
Janet joined the firm in 2003. She represents individuals and businesses in both Indiana and Michigan. The focus of Janet’s practice is in the areas of estate planning and probate law. She also counsels clients in contract negotiations and handles civil litigation matters involving employment issues and insurance coverage disputes.

Jones Obenchain is pleased to announce that Brian M. Kubicki has been made a partner.
Brian represents small businesses and individuals in a variety of transactional and litigation matters. It’s what he calls the lawyer’s version of a “liberal arts education.” In the courtroom, he has represented a school district seeking to end a 20-year-old desegregation order in federal court and argued before the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Scott Loitz speaks at area high schools
On February 12, 2009 Scott Loitz spoke at Michigan City High School and Roosevelt High School in Gary as part of the Indiana State Bar Association's program to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. Much of Scott's practice is in northwest Indiana and this opportunity allowed him to support both the state bar association as well as give back to two of the communities in northwest Indiana. Scott continues to also serve as the associate member representative for the Lake County Bar Association.

Jackie Homann was elected to serve a term as President of the Morris
Entertainment, Inc. board of directors in December 2008. The Morris board is responsiblefor the renovation of the Morris and the Palais Royale. The Board's purpose is "to develop the Morris Performing Arts Center into a
world-class entertainment center and premier banquet facility to benefit
the greater South Bend metropolitan area.” The Morris Performing Arts
Center has been ranked annually as one of the top 100 theaters in the
world. Jackie is thrilled to be serving our community to continue to develop
the Morris PAC.
Jackie Homann elected President of the Morris Board of Directors
Jackie Homann recently appeared on WSBT’s “Business Break” to raise awareness about Indiana’s “March Against Hunger.” The Attorney General of the State of Indiana has challenged Indiana attorneys to help raise funds and food donations for local food banks. All of the funds and foods donated here in Michiana will be donated directly to the Northern Indiana Food Bank.
