Janet G. Horvath
Janet joined Jones Obenchain, LLP in 2003. She represents individuals and businesses in both Indiana and Michigan. The focus of Janet’s practice is in the areas of estate planning and probate law. She also counsels clients in contract negotiations and handles civil litigation matters involving employment issues and insurance coverage disputes. Janet takes pride in helping clients determine their goals and presenting the options available to them for achieving their goals so that clients can make sound decisions with which they are satisfied.
Janet was raised just outside of South Bend in New Carlisle on her family’s dairy farm. Her great-grandfather purchased the farm while working at Studebaker’s during the Great Depression. The farm has remained in her family for three generations, worked by both her grandfather and father. Growing up, Janet actively participated in her local 4-H Club and showed dairy cattle from her family’s farm at the County Fair.
Since returning to South Bend after law school and joining the firm, Janet has been active in community organizations. She is a member of the Junior League of South Bend, a board member of the Saint Mary’s College South Bend Alumnae Club and serves on the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition’s Board of Directors. She is also a past executive board member and treasurer of the Bend Area Service/Sports/Social Club ('BASS).
In addition to her community activities, Janet also enjoys traveling. Her favorite trip was to Budapest and its small surrounding villages in Hungary where four of her great-grandparents were born. Janet’s most recent trip was to Bora Bora where she honeymooned with her husband, Leon.
