
John B. Ford
John B. Ford is a 4th-generation St. Joseph County attorney, following his father, maternal grandfather and great great uncle into the profession. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, and attended John Adams High School. An English major and varsity swimmer at Ohio Wesleyan University, he graduated cum laude in 1973. John graduated cum laude from Indiana University School of Law in 1976 and was on the Law Journal staff. He joined the firm in 1976. His father, G. Burt Ford, was a partner.
John's areas of practice include general business, real estate, employment, construction, estate planning and probate. He represents a number of area businesses, including manufacturers, developers, homebuilders, commercial landlords and contractors, as well as individuals. He assists corporate clients in the formation, growth, diversification, compliance programs, family transition, purchase and sale of their companies, and is available for consultation on a wide range of business issues. John has experience in matters relating to corporate governance, employment policies and discrimination, non-competes, land use and zoning, mechanic's liens, due diligence and the resolution of business disputes. John also has been involved with the creation of several area subdivisions and condominiums and represents a number of homeowners associations. He works with individual clients on their wills, trusts and estates and the purchase, sale and other issues concerning their homes.
For many years, John has been involved with masters swimming through the Michiana YMCA and the house corporation of his undergraduate fraternity. He served 6 years on the Evaluation and Allocations Division and Admissions Committees of United Way of St. Joseph County, and is a past president of the Windingbrook Park homeowners association. He is a member of Morris Park Country Club, where his handicap hovers around 10. John has 2 adult children.
