Jacqueline Sells HomannPartner
Jackie Homann, the first female partner in Jones Obenchain’s 100-year history, has been practicing with the firm since 1997. Prior to that, she spent six years at Barnes & Thornburg and a year clerking for the Honorable Harry C. Dees, Judge of the Bankruptcy Court for Northern District of Indiana, South Bend division.
Jackie considers it her privilege to help clients reach their goals and avoid problems before they lead to litigation. But, if litigation results, she is ready to help them understand what the issues are, both legal and business, and bring a resolution as promptly as possible. Jackie assists her clients in negotiating, reviewing and drafting contracts, dealing with customers, suppliers, and service providers to resolve disputes and many other business matters. Her litigation practice takes her to both state and federal court where she has both pursued claims on behalf of her clients and defended her clients when others bring claims against them. Although focusing on business disputes, she also does construction and personal injury.
Jackie also serves as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Northern District of Indiana, South Bend division, a post she has held since 2002. As a trustee, it is her job to liquidate assets for distribution to creditors and assist in protecting the integrity of the bankruptcy system. Her role as trustee allows her to be involved with multiple practice areas giving her a unique perspective in legal arenas she might not otherwise practice in.
In addition to her work as a lawyer and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee, Jackie is a wife and a mother. She serves her community as a board member for Morris Entertainment, Inc. She is active at St. Peter Lutheran Church, serving as Dance Mistress of the Liturgical Dance Team, on the Worship and Liturgical Arts Committee and co-chair of the capital campaign committee. She is a board member of the Women’s Leadership Institute, serving on the education committee—the program chair of the 2014 National Conference. She has previously served as President of the Michiana Lutheran Education Association, Inc. and the Elkhart Concert Club. In addition to all this, she finds time to dance—she taps with her children and does ballroom with her husband.
